Los Colores d'España
One of my
favorite parts of Spain was the bright colors! Around every corner,
in every shop window, were brightly colored things -all sorts of
things- livening up the street and bringing a certain element of
energy and vibrance to the daily life there. The fans and watches in
the shop window, the scarves, pants, and jewelry in booths at the
market, the dishes and tiles and even the paint on the outsides of
buildings is reminiscent of the inside of a box of crayolas. People's
outfits, too, seemed brighter. This is an aspect of their culture,
that to me, seems uniquely “Spanish”. You certainly see similar
things in other places (mostly places with ties to Spain, strangely
enough...) but to me, bright colors are truly engrained in the
Spanish culture. It's hard not to make note of this as you walk the
streets...
