Los Colores d'España

One of my favorite parts of Spain was the bright colors! Around every corner, in every shop window, were brightly colored things -all sorts of things- livening up the street and bringing a certain element of energy and vibrance to the daily life there. The fans and watches in the shop window, the scarves, pants, and jewelry in booths at the market, the dishes and tiles and even the paint on the outsides of buildings is reminiscent of the inside of a box of crayolas. People's outfits, too, seemed brighter. This is an aspect of their culture, that to me, seems uniquely “Spanish”. You certainly see similar things in other places (mostly places with ties to Spain, strangely enough...) but to me, bright colors are truly engrained in the Spanish culture. It's hard not to make note of this as you walk the streets...
